Mitchell River - Ancient Aboriginal Rock Art

Continuing along the track from Little Mertens Falls towards the Mitchell Falls, shortly before you arrive at the Mertens gorge, you will walk past a little waterhole with a sheared rock face on the opposite side. It’s really worth hopping across the river along the big boulders to investigate it.

Under the overhang, you will find a big gallery of aboriginal rock art. There are a lot of stories being told in those ancient paintings; one that puzzled me the most is a picture on the left showing two groups of people with their spears and boomerangs and a person in the middle that seems to be the subject of their attention. Seems like someone's in trouble!

Have a look at the panorama, zoom in and see what other interesting figures can you find!
